Section J Report
The national Construction Code Section J sets out the minimum energy efficiency requirements for commercial buildings in Australia. It addresses building fabric and building services energy efficiency such as the facade thermal performance and lighting power respectively. The fabric thermal performance is always part of our scope, however, the mechanical (J5) and electrical(J6) parts are often completed by the appointed service engineers, however, for smaller projects where services engineers are not appointed, we would complete these parts as well. The section J report will also inform the building designer/architect of the requirements and specifications of the building fabric to be included on plans/specifications. The main outcome of the report is the insulation requirements solution for the different types of walls, floors and ceilings construction, and the windows specifications in terms of U-value and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) which are based on the facade calculator results.

JV3 Verification Method
EcoHarmony also provides thermal modelling services as an alternative verification method known as JV3. A JV3 modelling in most situations results in project benefits, such as cost savings and flexibility in designing by allowing for trade off between different elements of the building fabric . The verification method compares the total annual heating and cooling energy of the proposed building to the that of a reference building with is deemed to satisfy the elemental provisions of the code.
